Update: 27w2d

"Back already?" TheGoodDoc said as she bustled into the room. "Two weeks goes by so fast!"

"Maybe to you it does," I replied, with only the tiniest hint of bitterness.

Cervix check was good--my external os is a little open again, but overall my cervix is long (3.9 cm!), firm, and closed. Got another fFN swab, which it seems will be a regular part of our routine now. TheGoodDoc proclaimed herself pleased, though she was a little concerned to hear that my contractions are getting more painful (though no more frequent)--I feel my "usual" contractions as a hardening at the top of my uterus, but every once in a while now, I'll get a really big one that sends pain shooting through my whole abdomen. I got my most detailed when-to-call instructions yet: any time I get five or more contractions per hour for two hours, each contraction lasting 40 seconds or more.

Five more weeks of house arrest, she says, and then she'll let me increase my activity level a little. Five weeks. I can do this.

I'm glad the contractions are "only" painful. I hope the five weeks go by as quickly and contraction-free as possible.

Well, if it's allowable, it sounds like that calls for a celebratory dance! Glad to hear your cervix is cooperating!

I'm sure this must just be really stressful, not to mention uncomfortable. Glad to hear that the cervix is in good shape, I hope you've got lots of DVDs in the house...

I've got the 5+ hour Colin Firth/Jennifer Ehle BBC "Pride and Prejudice" but am saving it for an emergency...I figure around mid-December when daylight is really scarce, I'll need that Colin-Firth-dripping-wet boost. :)

Five more weeks? You need netflix, girl! Glad the exam went well - boy when you're in there every week she'll feel like you never left! LOL.

I *love* that P&P DVD!! Love it, love it, love it!! I always tell myself I'm just going to watch part of it, and then poof! 5 hours have passed. Dripping wet Colin. Yummy. Excellent emergency stuff. I can add some obscure recommendations in the same vein-- "Wives and Daughters" and "Berkeley Square." I also bought (via Ebay) some of those felt holiday stocking kits and sewed away. (I am not a natural craftsy type person.) Just search under "Bucilla felt stocking" to see what I mean. The instructions are very helpful and it's pretty easy to do while laying down. I found it a refreshing change from the internet and the nine millionth Law and Order rerun.

So glad to hear of the continuing cervix cooperation.

Dear Electriclady, I've just caught up on your last two weeks -- you poor thing. How I am hoping that the contractions give you a break soon. That forced inactivity and the constant stress must be so hard to bear -- and I won't even go into the emotional pressure you have to contend with. On the positive side, I'm glad to hear your cervix is holding up so well.
